Heidi Woodhead (nee Simmons) is well known as an International rider trainer, BHSI BE accredited Coach. Born in Yorkshire, Heidi has been based around the York area all her life, close to the beautiful Howardian Hills around Castle Howard.
From Pony Club days, Heidi has always been a keen competitor, but also a stickler for perfection! "The Biz" was one of the first horses produced by Heidi up to International level. He competed at Badminton & Burghley several times, and represented GB in Aachen CHIO 2008. Many other horses have followed in The Biz's footsteps, have continued to be successful when sold, including DHI Topper W who was selected for the London Olympics in 2012 with Piggy French.
As a trainer, Heidi is known for improving & building confidence in both horse rider, and she enjoys teaching riders at all levels, specialising in cross country jumping skills.
Ian Woodhead is one of the original founders of DHI, and has seen the brand evolve from it's early days 20 years ago. Originally from Grimsby, Ian has a background working with horses, was involved in the running of the family business "Weelsby Park Riding School", before he went to Talland to train under Mrs Sivewright's keen eye!
Amongst many achievements, Ian was the National Under 21 dressage trainer for 18 years, during which time the Dressage Pony Team won 10 European Championship medals.
In 2004 Ian moved away from pure dressage, and is now a well respected trainer for many top international event riders, including Oliver Townend, Nicola Wilson, Piggy French, Sam Watson, Sarah Ennis, and other British Irish senior squad members, on the odd occasion, his wife Heidi!! Ian is proud to have been part of many eventing championship medal successes at European, World Olympic level. He is also a proud Dad - both Amy Holly Woodhead have represented Great Britain at Young Rider European Championships in Dressage Eventing.
In 2006 Ian was awarded the British Equestrian Federation, Medal of Honour, in recognition of his achievements dedication to Coaching - he continues to be a much sought after trainer.

• Stabling available on site for residential training
• Covered 5 horse walker with easy access, and lorry park
• Show jumping field, with full set of Jump 4 Joy fences
• Extensive Cross Country course, fences ranging from PN to Advanced level. Includes ditches, steps, technical combinations, water complex
All on very good, free draining land, allowing training during most of the year. The course is constantly being updated and developed to challenge horses and riders at all levels in a safe environment. The land is carefully looked after and aggravated during summer months to ensure good going under foot.
